The University of Central Missouri is offering a summer Intro to Chemistry (CHEM 1104) course with lab May 30 through July 6  at the Missouri Innovation Campus in Lee’s Summit. Lectures will take place 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. with the lab from 12:30 to 2:20 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tuition rate is $96 per credit hour.

Through dual-credit courses, students save both time and money while preparing for college rigor and expectations. In addition, enrolled students may qualify for scholarships (post high school) worth $1,000 annually and renewable for three years. Students completing the course will earn four hours of college credit plus high-school credit, if available through their sending schools.

Chemistry 1104 includes an introduction of the basic concepts of chemistry and scientific methodology, emphasizing the connections between chemistry, technology and all things in the modern world.

The six-week course fulfills a general education requirement. The class is open to Lee’s Summit R-7 School District students as well as high-school students enrolled in all Summit Technology Academy partner schools. To enroll, students must have a 2.5 grade-point average. No ACT test required.

Students may enroll at https://ucmo.dualenroll.com.
